Lieutenant General Prem Nath Hoon (Retd), PVSM, AVSM, SM, was born on 4 October, 1929 in Undivided India (Abbottabad), North West Frontier Province where he was Actively associated with India’s freedom struggle from 1936-1947. Prominent leaders Mahatma Gandhi Ji, Jawaharlal Nehru Ji, Abdul Gaffar Khan Ji, Dr. Rajindra Prasad Ji and Dr. Khan Sahib Ji during their visits to (NWFP) in 1936 used to stay with the family, then considered as Congress Party HQ’s where strategic discussions took place for ensuring the Unity of Hindus, Muslims and all other sections of society in order that a United India stands together to secure freedom from the British. He was then a mere worker with the Party. His military career started in 1947 when he joined the Indian Military Academy, Dehradoon. He is one of the few army personnel who have seen all the three wars that India undertook. In 1962, he defended post of Barahoti during aggression by China, on UP-Tibet border.

In the year 1965, he fought against Pakistan on Western front in the Punjab, Sialkot and Pasrur sectors, with India’s Armoured Strike Forces. He was then promoted to the position of Lt. Col and moved to KARGIL sector in command of Special Mountain Forces. In 1983, he was promoted as the Lt. General and he commanded the 15 Corps in J&K. He captured “SIACHEN GLACIER” (7500sq.km.) across the LOC claimed by Pakistan as part of Pak Occupied Kashmir and also carried out the operational plans approved personally by the then Prime Minister, Smt. Indira Gandhi.

He presently holds office as the Senior Advisor to Home Minister Rajnath Singh and is also the Defence and security Advisor to Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi.

He is a man with one of the most reputable histories and backgrounds that the India as a nation ever witnessed. We are truly honoured and blessed to have him as the Goodwill Ambassador of I Am Still Human.
